Thank you for your positive support during Covid 19. The school must abide to all the instructions of the Department of Education. The instructions are coming through very slowly and unclearly, so we ask everyone to be patient in these time of uncertainty.
1. PHASING IN OF GRADES:
We are proud to say that the first phase in of Grade 7 went smoothly. 99% of our pupils returned to school.
2. REOPENING OF SCHOOLS (PRELIMINARY):
The preliminary dates for the phasing in of the remaining grades are as follows:
- 6 July – Gr R, 1, 2, 3 and 6
- 3 August – Gr 4 and 5
We have applied for Grade 4 and 5 to start earlier. We are waiting for the Department’s response.
The Health Department, Education Department and the SAPS inspect the school on a daily basis.
From 6 July, only 50% of the school’s learners may be at school daily. We plan the HALF MODEL. Classes will be divided in 2 groups. So learners will only be at school every 2nd day.
The school managing team will try to divide learners from the same households into the same groups, to make the logistics for the parents easier.
No requests regarding placements from parents can or will be allowed.
The staff is hard at work and in training, to ensure that learners who are at home and learners who are at school can receive the same lessons and work. I can assure you that the staff accept the new challenge with enthusiasm.
Please keep in mind that the Half Model plan still expect from you as a parents to be involved in your child’s study program. Not only must schools prepare for a new way of teaching, but parents will also have to work towards ensuring that learners have access to the necessary technology, for example, sufficient data, smartphones and/or computers.
Until the children are back at the school there will be “drive-through” opportunities for parents to obtain hard copies of the work or to submit completed activities. These are challenging times … but we can handle it.
