After a long lockdown the time is finally here for our foundation Phase and Grade 6’s to return to school on the 6th July. A week later on the 13th July, the LSEN, Grade 4 and Grade 5 classes will also return to school.
To give all parents and learners a bit more peace of mind regarding the safety procedures, we have decided to use 2 & 3 July to demonstrate the procedures and regulations to the foundation Phase and Grade 6’s. (So that on their return on 6 July everyone knows exactly what to do). LSEN, Grade 4 & 5 orientation will take place on Friday 10th July. (ALL OTHER GRADES TO STAY HOME THAT DAY)
Each class is divided into 2 groups. Your child will come to school on alternative days. Please make sure that all family members/lift-club children are in the same group before the school officially opens.
GRADE R – 3 AND GRADE 6 ORIENTATION
Group 1 will attend school on 2 July and Group 2 on 3 July from 7:30 until 12:00. All lock down school work and books must also come back to school. On these 2 days, Grade 7 learners will stay at home. The learners will make use of the following gates:

Your child will be met at the gate by a staff member who will scan your child and sanitize their hands. They will receive a sticker with their temperature. They will then follow the coloured arrows leading them to their classes where their teacher will be waiting:
Once they are at their classes the teacher will sanitize the child again. The teacher will take the child’s sticker and record the temperature. Each learner will receive the following documents that day:

This passport is completed every morning by the parent and must come to school with your child every day. As soon as they line up at the gate, the passport must already be in their hand.
The staff member at the gate will sign the passport and place the sticker with his/her temperature in the passport. NO PASSPORT, NO ENTRY!!
Each learner will receive a permit (as given by Department of Education) saying that the learner may be transported to school. This permit must be in their suitcases every day.
COVID-19 SCREENING TOOL LETTER
This letter is from the Department. Please fill in and send it back to school:

As soon as the children are in their classrooms, the teachers will explain the new class routines and how the safety rules will work. They will also receive Covid-19 training so that they can remain calm and feel safe.
The juniors and seniors will have break at different times. Grade 1’s and Grade 2’s will have break on the A-field in their designated areas, Grade 3’s will be on the B-field. The class teacher will remain with his/her class to ensure that the safety rules and social distancing are met at all times. There will also be members of staff and cleaners on duty at the bathrooms during every break.
